Daisy Thompson is a UK dance artist now living in Vancouver. She trained at Laban Dance Centre (London), and has recently completed an MFA in Interdisciplinary Arts at Simon Fraser University (Canada).
As choreographer, she was chosen for the Dance Beyond Borders young choreographers program (Hamburg), 2009. In 2010 she was selected by The Southbank Centre (London), for the DanceWEB scholarship to participate in the ImpulseTanz festival (Vienna). Her own work has been presented internationally in the UK, Germany, Belgium, Portugal and Vancouver. Most recently she has choreographed 2 pieces for Simon Fraser University (Canada) 2012/2013 Dance Rep Show, and presented work at Quest University (Canada) and at Art for Impact 2013 (Canada).
As performer, she has danced for Trisha Brown in Walking on the Walls, Planes and Floors of the Forest, at the Barbican Centre (London). She has also danced for Henry Montes (UK), Eva Kargzac (Holland), Lizzi Kew-ross (UK) and Katie DeVries (Canada) amongst others, and performed for visual artist’s Tania Bruguera (Cuba) and Pablo Bronstein (UK).
As teacher, she had taught composition and release-based contemporary technique in Germany, Belgium and the UK, and most recently at the University of Victoria (Canada), Quest university (Canada), the Training Society of Vancouver (Canada) and the Landing Dance Centre (Canada). From January 2015 she is teaching contemporary technique as a sessional instructor at Simon Fraser University (Canada).
